What is the difference between resetting and changing my password?
You should reset a SCEIS password when you have locked or forgotten your current password. This option ( https://myscreset.sc.gov/ ) allows you to answer questions you previously entered at the SCEIS password reset registration website ( https://myscquestions.sc.gov ) and reset the password without having to call the Help Desk for support. You should make a password change using the SCEIS password change website ( https://myscchange.sc.gov ) when you already know your current password and just want to change it. Changing a SCEIS password does not involve answering any questions. Instead, you simply enter the current password, then the new password you would like to begin using.
I thought we couldn’t re-use passwords, but I just successfully changed my password to one I used 6 months ago. Why did it work?
Your IdM password history begins from the first time you set your password using IdM, and does not include passwords you set before IdM was implemented. This means that you cannot reset your password to one you have previously set using IdM.
Is the IdM system used only for resetting passwords?
No. You can also use the IdM system to change your password. You can make a password change using the SCEIS password change website ( https://myscchange.sc.gov ) when you already know your current password and just want to change it. Changing a SCEIS password does not involve answering any questions. Instead, you simply enter the current password, then the new password you would like to begin using.
Can I complete the Registration Process for Self-Service Password reset if my password is already expired or I am locked out?
No. You should complete the registration process before you need to reset your password since you must log in to the registration site with your current, valid password. We recommend that you log into the registration site immediately and set your questions. If your password has already expired or your account is locked, you will need to contact the SCEIS Help Desk for assistance at (803) 896-0001 (select option 1 for SCEIS help) or use the email form at the following link: http://www.sceis.sc.gov/requests/ .
I completed the IdM registration process, but when I try to log in to the password reset site to change my password, I get a message telling me I am not authorized to do so. How can I correct this?
First, close all of your browser windows and then wait about a minute. Access the IdM password reset site again (https://myscreset.sc.gov/ ). When you attempt to log into the password reset site, make sure you use the exact user ID that you entered in the registration site. If you receive the same error message again, please contact the SCEIS Help Desk for assistance at (803) 896-0001 (select option 1 for SCEIS help) or use the email form at the following link: http://www.sceis.sc.gov/requests/ .
Why am I getting emails from email@example.com ?
You are receiving these emails because you have either entered or changed your authentication questions, or you have changed your password. This is a system-generated email that lets you know there has been some IdM-related activity in your account. If, on the other hand, you are not getting these emails, you may need to add the firstname.lastname@example.org address to your Junk Email filter as a trusted address. Please contact your agency’s IT department if you have problems getting these emails.
My password is the same for SRM, Citrix, and MySCEmployee. Will resetting my password using IdM change all three passwords so that I can continue to use one password for all three sites?
If you use the same user ID to log in to each application, resetting your password using IdM will change all three passwords, enabling you to continue to use one password for all three sites.
I received an “Authentication Failed” message after I entered the answers to my authentication questions. Why?
Remember that you must type in your authentication answers exactly as you supplied them in the registration process. Spelling and spaces count, but your answers are not case sensitive. For example, if you answered the question "What is your favorite pet's name?" with "Joy" and when prompted in this screen, you answer "Joye," the system will count that as an incorrect answer. If you answered the "What is your favorite vacation spot?" question as "Myrtle Beach," but enter "MyrtleBeach" as the answer when prompted, the system will count that as an incorrect answer.
If you do not answer both questions correctly, the system will randomly pick two more from the list of five questions you answered during the registration process. You will have six opportunities to answer a series of two questions correctly. If you are not successful after the sixth attempt, you will need to contact the SCEIS Help Desk for assistance at (803) 896-0001 (select option 1 for SCEIS help) or use the email form at the following link: http://www.sceis.sc.gov/requests/ .
I tried to reset my password in IdM, but received a message that said “New password invalid: Include at least 1 each of alphabetic and numeric characters.” What do I need to do?
Exit and then re-enter the IdM password reset site ( https://myscreset.sc.gov/ ). When you enter your new password, make sure it includes at least eight total characters, with at least one number, one upper case letter, and one lower case letter. For additional security, we recommend that you also use one special character, such as #, * or &.
Can I change my password while I am logged in to SRM, Citrix or MySCEmployee?
No, we recommend that you make sure you exit from any application that you enter with the password you are changing before making a password change.
